The fixture with the delightful gentlemen from Whetstone is always a popular one, and this year was no exception. We all just managed to complete our matches in the dry although the overnight rain had thickened the rough and reduced the run on the ball on the fairways, making the course play quite long and increasing the challenge. The first group out rose to that challenge better than the rest of us (perhaps with an extra helping of insider-knowledge (!) ) and Lady President Sue Barker, along with last year's 1st team Captain Janice Sterland, claimed the trophy and the prize wine, alongside their gentlemen partners Terry Moore and Steve Sibley. It's getting to be a bit of a habit for Terry, as he also won the trophy last year. I think we'll all be fighting to be in his team next year! Well done also to Karen Thompson from Rothley Park who won the ladies' nearest the pin on the challenging par 3 17th.
