Northamptonshire ladies 3rd team travelled to Lingdale Golf Club to play our only inter-county 3rd team match on Thursday 8th June. Everyone arrived in good time and good spirits despite the weather not being too seasonal! However the showers were intermittent and not as heavy as forecast.
After coffee and introductions to one another, President Sue and 2nd Team Captain 'Drina saw the ladies on their way, with some excellent tee shots from the first tee. The course was in really good condition and the hospitality shown to us by the team at Lingdale was excellent.
For a number of our Leicestershire ladies this was their first visit to Lingdale Golf Club and indeed for several was their first match for our association. The teams kept us hanging on till the last 4Ball of the day for the final outcome which was a very friendly halved match.
We ate as we came in, in groups of 8 and enjoyed a lovely meal of braised lamb with parmentier potatoes and seasonal vegetables, followed by passion fruit crème brulee, coffee and mints.
The poor weather didn’t dampen spirits in any way with ladies enjoying the whole day and all looking forward to playing for the Vets again sometime soon.
