L & RVLGA 1st Team Vs 2nd Team

Result 5/3 Win to the first team
Following an awful lot of rain in the days leading upto this match – the weather was kind to us for this annual fixture and the course had held up extremely well.
As it was the last match of the season for both teams it was good to get the match played. There was the usual friendly banter and atmosphere in the clubhouse for coffee was great – thank you to Lingdale for hosting the match and looking after us with an excellent meal
Thank you to 2nd team captain Pauline for organising the match even though it was the home club to both captains in 2024.
This match is played as 4BBB match play with handicap allowance. As usual – the captains and vice captains played against each other with Cate Alexander substituting for 2nd Team Vice Pauline Vickers. Jacqui and I lost on the 16th hole to some good golf played by the 2nd team pairing. I understand many of the 2nd team players stood out and used their shots meaning other matches were close leading to a 5/3 victory for the 1st Team.
Pauline and I decided it would be good to have something to play for in this match in coming years and we have decided a ‘Wooden Spoon’ will be given to the losing team going forward, as it was only thought of on the course we did manage to get a picture of a wooden spoon that was ‘presented’ to Pauline following our meal.
My grateful thanks to the committee and everyone who has played this year for the first team and supported me throughout – I was new to the vets when I took on the VC role and hadn’t even played a 1st team match until then, I have very much enjoyed the experience, meeting lots of new ladies, playing different courses and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the AGM and Luncheon on November 14th where 7 ladies will be awarded their county colours.
