Another beautiful, sunny day at Kirby to greet the Warwickshire ladies. Many it seemed had played the course before which was in lovely condition.
I was on ‘captain duties’ and didn’t play in this match so had the pleasure of starting off all 8 matches. Warwickshire brought a strong team and Barbara Suffolk and Sally Lax lead L& R out as the first pair and narrowly lost 2 & 1. Our 2nd pairing of Janey Heaney and Mel Walker turned the tables with a win and it would remain close throughout with our last two pairings of Jo Groome and Annette O Meara and Beverly Roebuck with Trina Tidmass bringing home wins for L & R to seal a draw. The other pairing to win for L & R were Annie Martin and Lisa Morris.
There was a lovely, friendly atmosphere again as there always seems to be with these matches along with a bit of rivalry! We enjoyed a nice meal after play, even tho most were exhausted by the hot weather. Many thanks to Kirby Muxloe GC for hosting this match.
