Dear Sue and all at the Leicestershire & Rutland Veteran Ladies Golf,
On behalf of us all here at LOROS, I wanted to write and say a huge thank you for your tremendous recent fundraising efforts throughout 2023 and raising an amazing £1527.60. This is incredible and you must feel so proud and rightly so! We are so grateful for the continued support you give to LOROS. This really is a fantastic and valuable contribution that will make the world of difference here at LOROS.
You may not know that LOROS Hospice is a local charity and every year we care for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We deliver free, high quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family and carers. It costs us £8.2 million each year to be able to deliver our services. The NHS does give us some money, but we still need to raise at least £6 million each year from our local community. We couldn't do what we do without the support of people like you.
It is difficult to express in an email the difference donations like this one make. I often find it helps our supporters to better understand the difference their fundraising efforts make when we are able to demonstrate how this amount of money could be spent. I am certain that following COVID everyone has become very aware of the importance of PPE. PPE has, as you might imagine, always been necessaary at LOROS and throughout the year, our nursing team get through vast amounts of items such as gloves, aprons, head coverings, face masks and goggles. These items are imperative to keep them and their patients safe from infection. It costs around £2,500 to purchase enough PPE to keep our frontline staff protected over the course of one year. As with most things, is often these seemingly small details that are overlooked, or may not spring to mind when you first think about fundraising for LOROS, but these details are so important and so necessary. We couldn't do what we do without people like you and all those who contributed to this amazing amount of money.
The past few years have been very tough for LOROS. Whilst we continued to care for patients during COVID-19, the pandemic has left a long term impact, made worse by the effects of recent rises in the cost of living. Every bill you pay, from food to electricity, we at LOROS have to cover too and the increases are challenging. Your help enables is to be here, providing care for our patients and making a difference when it matters the most. Thank you.
Once again, from everyone here at LOROS; thank you.
King regards, PP Helen, Laura Betts Fundraising Manager.
