Thursday 19th April 2018
The weather for our first match was glorious, the hottest April day in 70 years. Sun cream and plenty of fluid was the order of the day with umbrellas going up for shade.
The week before the match we didn’t know whether we would be able to play 2 x 9 holes or none at all. The greens staff at Melton had worked wonders on the course and only the 1st and 18th hadn’t been cut due to the wet.
17 clubs were represented and the clubhouse was buzzing with ladies catching up after the winter, laughter being the order of the day before the match and during the meal afterwards.
We ate Lasagne, salad and garlic bread followed by the lemon cheesecake which was excellent.
Well done to Vice-Captain Annette’s team for winning 6-2 with 5 wins, 1 loss and 2 halves. A lot of the matches being won on the 18th. Congratulations Annette and her team.
Thank you to lady President Sue Bromwich for her support and for playing for the Captain’s team.
