Leicestershire & Rutland Am-Am with Whetstone Senior Gents
After 2 days of quite horrid weather and lots of finger crossing and hoping, we were blessed with warm sunshine for our annual fixture with Whetstone Senior Gents.
After joining us for a welcome coffee and biscuits before our golf, Sue Bromwich our President started us all off on the first tee. We played a 4 Ball Am-Am off full handicap with one lady and one gent to count on each hole, all to count on the par 3’s and a nearest the pin for ladies and gents, both on the 17th hole.
The Winning group were Carol Hinks (Glen Gorse) and Kay Pole (Charnwood Forest), Bryan Turner and Noel Hall with an excellent score of 89 points.
Nearest the Pin for the Ladies was Pauline Dye (Ullesthorpe).
Nearest the pin for the Gents was Stu Goddard.
Congratulations to the winning ladies and gents and a huge thank you to all who played.
Valerie Wilford from Kilworth Springs kindly donated the trophy in 2003 and we were delighted that Valerie could play and also present the trophy this year. She gave us an insight into the history behind the trophy and had actually previously played with Noel Hall one of this year’s winners.
The course was very well presented and we enjoyed a lovely meal of roast beef and all the trimmings with caramelised apple cheesecake. The gentlemen then kindly served us coffee and mints. A lovely end to another wonderful day.
