16 Leicestershire ladies made the long trip to Elsham Golf Club near Brigg, North Lincolnshire, with trepidation keeping an eye on the weather forecast. When we arrived it was not in bright sunshine but neither was it raining. However, as soon as the first group stood on the 1st tee, it started, and it just didn’t stop. By the time everyone had teed off and the first group was on the eighth hole the course was unplayable, the match abandoned. 32 very wet ladies made it back into the clubhouse where after a very short time the meal was ready and we ate in a very friendly atmosphere. What we did see of the course was lovely (also tricky) and made all of us wish to come back at some time in the future.
What a difference 52 weeks can be. The 2015 match with Lincolnshire at Kirby Muxloe was played on the hottest day of the year!!
I would like to thank the ladies of Leicestershire for making the day enjoyable despite the weather.
