The First Team had an early start and long journey to Stoke Rochford
Golf Club for their fixture against Lincolnshire. Fortunately, there
was a break in the unseasonal cold and wet July weather and the
matches were played in bright sunshine.
Leicestershire's Lady President Janet Morris once again was there to
support the team and, along with the non-playing Lincolnshire Captain, travelled around the course watching the games. The course offered a variety of challenges from sloping fairways, tee shots from the base of ravines and elevated greens. Local knowledge was a key factor when playing shots to the green and subtle borrows made it difficult to judge the pace of the putts.
The match was very tight, with the final result resting on the last
few games. Unfortunately, the Lincolnshire team had the upper hand on a familiar course, winning the match 4 1/2 to 3 1/2.
